She sure does have a tender heart and wants to be a peacemaker most of the time. We as fathers would be a sorry lot if we didn't listen to and follow those learning moments our children and wives provide. I am sure the Lord knew we were a stubborn lot and needed that guidance. We look for those teaching moments but the learning moments are just as important. The key is to swallow our pride, stop and listen, and be teachable. Good going Brett!!

Re: Staring at the Ceiling

I like this post, Brett (I like them all actually). Reflecting on time that is past is something we all tend to do on our birthdays I think. It always seems a little surprising to realize how many years have gone by. You have accomplished a lot in your 42 years and I am sure your children will be as proud of you as you are of your dad. The belated card is in the mail!

Re: Donut and Muffin Factory

TodTod, yep that's the place. Copies have tripled in price over a 20 year period. That's not bad.

Re: Donut and Muffin Factory

Oh my Gosh, that is a trip down memory lane. I remember going to that donut shop and the Godfather's pizza when I went to Auburn High just a couple blocks down the road some 20+ years ago. But I think back then the sign said 5 cent copies. Probably the same copier, too. Not far from there is a real greasy spoon diner called the Starting Gate, used to go there all the time for Lunch or Breakfast after Church.

Re: Staring at the Ceiling

Happy Birthday!

Re: Staring at the Ceiling

Wonderful post. What I don't like are bloggers taking free products and pushing products without divulging that information up front. Or people who use Twitter to do the same. I hope bloggers find a way to get paid for their work in a manner that won't ruin their reputation. I'm still not sure why anyone should get paid for using Twitter.

Re: Trust Is All That Matters

How will blogs like Techcruch make money without advertising? Is Dooce a blog run by volunteers?

For some bloggers, you are right, the trust generated by not advertising or minimizing advertising is more important than the money. But if blogging is your primary occupation, I am not so sure.

By the way, I subscribe to your blog AND Techcrunch via RSS/Google Reader. I have for a couple of years now. I never saw your ad and I'm not bothered by Techcrunch, among many others.

Maybe that's a bad thing because I don't
understand the sponsor relationship.

Re: Trust Is All That Matters

Do you think there is anyone out there that has not been tricked into an Amway pitch?
